About The Event
Ōmisoka" (大晦日) is the Japanese traditional celebration of New Year's Eve and is a time for purification and reflection, blending Shinto and Buddhist customs. Hinotori An uses this time for zen practice and clinsing rituals.
Ōsōji (Great Clean-up): Hinotori An uses this time for the Great Samu, a cleansing of the hermitage from top to bottom to clear the space for the arrival of new, fresh energy. The cleansing is extended to include fasting of body and spirit.
The entire period emphasizes a profound spiritual reset, where the old year is left behind and positive intentions are set for the future.
