I am not sure to understand why suffering is or should be the shortest way or ladder to liberation. We should, then, be looking for suffering in our respective lives.?

Why shortest? Because when we feel comfortable we try to keep that state and so prevent natural maturation. Looking for suffering? Ordinary person can hardly escape suffering, why there is no need to search for it (although many people do it).
